Thomson Reuters Adds Reverse Whois from MarkMonitor to SAEGIS and SERION Platforms
-- Brand owners can easily search domain name data to prioritize brand protection actions
NORTH QUINCY, Massachusetts, Nov. 20, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Thomson Reuters CompuMark, a Thomson Reuters Intellectual Property & Science business and global leader in trademark searching and brand protection solutions, today announced the addition of Reverse Whois from MarkMonitor, a Thomson Reuters sister business, to the SAEGIS and SERION platforms. Reverse Whois is a key tool brand owners can utilize for the pursuit, prioritization and prosecution of Internet domain infringers, increasing the effectiveness of online brand protection and reducing the cost of investigation. This is the first major joint project undertaken by Thomson Reuters CompuMark and MarkMonitor to offer products across platforms, further expanding brand owner protection capabilities.
Reverse Whois will now be available through the SAEGIS or SERION dashboard, offering Thomson Reuters CompuMark customers the ability to easily discover domains owned by suspected infringers. Flexible and conditional search options deliver the most relevant findings, including current and historic global domain name registrations such as gTLD and ccTLD coverage. The new offering allows users to review, filter and sort the data, as well as to access summarized views to quickly identify email addresses or owner names used to register most of the matching domains.
"We are excited to offer our customers Reverse Whois through our SAEGIS and SERION platforms," said Viji Krishnan, vice president and general manager, Thomson Reuters CompuMark. "By working with MarkMonitor, a Thomson Reuters sister business, our customers have added insight into the registration of their trademarks and brand in domain names, helping prioritize and streamline brand protection efforts."
Reverse Whois offers regular monitoring of domain name registration, the ability to discover portfolios of domain names owned or used by a potential infringer, and the location of infringing domain names using limited contact information. Reports are automatically saved so brand owners can later export them, making it easier to provide evidence for litigation or UPDRP actions. The convenience of accessing Reverse Whois on the SAEGIS or SERION dashboard gives brand owners enhanced capabilities to identify brand abuse in domains.
