Three Quarters of Brits Won't Sacrifice Their Favourite Indulgences This Year
LONDON, January 9, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --
New research reveals Brits want to be healthy but won't give up food indulgences
Whilst Brits are making health and fitness related resolutions for the New Year, most find it difficult to resist the urge to indulge. Research released today by Truvia® calorie-free sweetener has found that while 7 out of 10 (70%) Brits want to be healthier in 2014, a staggering 3 in 4 (75%) refuse to give up their favourite food and drink indulgences.
The survey revealed tea and coffee as Brits' most cherished indulgence, with 46% unwilling to give up their daily brew under any circumstances, followed by 31% unable to give up sweets and another 31% unable to resist a good steak or burger. Not even vanity or personal happiness can stand between Brits and their tummies, as nearly 3 in 4 (74%) surveyed said they wouldn't give up their favourite food to be skinny, 84% wouldn't give them up to be beautiful and 62% wouldn't even give them up to be loved.
Even when Brits stick to their diet for a week, a whopping 86% reward themselves by indulging with alcohol or their favourite chocolate cake at the weekend.
Tony Lucas, the Silver Spoon Company marketing director comments, "From the classic builder's brew to the skinny latte, tea and coffee are British traditions so we're not surprised they topped the list of favourite treats. The introduction of Truvia® sweetener allows British consumers to indulge in their daily rituals of tea of coffee as they would like without having to worry about the amount of calories."
Mark Brooks, Truvia® business enterprise leader explains, "The research demonstrates the complexity of modifying eating habits in the New Year. British consumers feel compelled to sacrifice food favourites in order to cut calories, when they can have the best of both worlds. We're constantly exploring ways to help consumers achieve this balance with products like our Truvia® 150 gram pack and Truvia® tablets, which both play an important role in calorie reduction and maintaining a balanced diet."
The Truvia® 150 gram pack, which contains 100 servings in a re-sealable pack, is a convenient way to try granular, calorie-free Truvia® sweetener and is currently available at Tesco. Also available are Truvia® sweetener tablets, with each tablet providing the same sweetness as one teaspoon of sugar. Truvia® tablets are sold in packs of 100 tablets and are currently available in Asda, Sainsbury's, Tesco and Waitrose.
Now there's a way for consumers to obtain balance while still eating delicious food with Truvia® sweetener, a calorie-free option that addresses the need to reduce calorie consumption. It has a sugar-like texture and tastes great in a variety of foods and beverages so consumers can stick with their New Year's resolutions without sacrificing their favourite indulgences.
