Tommy Hilfiger Launches the Fifth Limited Edition Bag in Aid of Breast Health International With Renee Zellweger in Milan
MILAN, April 6, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Tommy Hilfiger, which is wholly owned by the Phillips-Van Heusen Corporation [NYSE: PVY], announced its continuing support of Breast Health International with the launch of a new limited edition bag. BHI is a globally renowned organization committed to finding a cure for breast cancer, through a unique collaborative program. The fifth and latest addition of the bag in aid of BHI was launched during a press conference in Milan with none other than Oscar-winning actress Renee Zellweger as its ambassador. The limited-edition bag will be sold in Tommy Hilfiger flagship stores, selected department stores and on tommy.com as well as through specialty stores as of May 06, 2010.
"I am very proud to be supporting Breast Health International for the fifth year running," said Tommy Hilfiger. "With the limited edition bag series we've been able to contribute to building breast cancer awareness, raise funds for the organization, and offer our consumers an opportunity to contribute in their own way. I am very pleased to work with Renee Zellweger, whom I consider to be a great talent, for this year's edition."
"Because of the experiences of close friends and family members who have had to endure and battle the challenges of breast cancer, I am a passionate supporter of breast health education and charitable causes," said Renee Zellweger. "I am honored and grateful to be partnering with Tommy Hilfiger to raise awareness and funds to support the invaluable work of Breast Health International."
"We are exceedingly grateful for Tommy Hilfiger's commitment to Breast Health International and we are excited to be partnering for the fifth consecutive year," said Shelley Schwartz, Founding Chairman for Breast Health International. "Tommy Hilfiger's generosity and support, through the proceeds of each limited edition handbag sold, allows us to fulfill our mission of improving the quality of life for those touched by breast cancer. "We also are very excited to work with Renee Zellweger; her commitment is admirable and very much appreciated."
This year the Tommy Hilfiger limited edition bag is made from tan suede complimented by a herringbone lining and features a subtle gold trim. The Tommy Hilfiger limited edition bag is made from natural, vegetable-tanned leather. The limited edition bag retails at EUR299; for every bag sold Tommy Hilfiger will donate EUR100 to the Fund For Living - an ongoing global campaign initiated by Breast Health International to support those diagnosed with breast cancer. The program helps fund small but essential needs not usually covered by health insurance, assisting those fighting breast cancer to gain their normal lives back without financial restraints.
Since the first edition of the initiative in 2007, Tommy Hilfiger has raised well over EUR300,000
for the Fund For Living. Former ambassadors of the program include: Italian actresses, Claudia Gerini and Cristiana Capotondi; France's first lady Carla Bruni and international supermodel-turned-acclaimed-photographer Helena Christensen. Ms. Christensen returned the following year as part of the creative team to photograph fellow supermodel Milla Jovovich for the fourth edition of Tommy Hilfiger's limited edition BHI bag.
