Top Energy Experts Lead the Charge for Rapid Action at Energy Solutions 2012
LONDON, October 22, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
A Keynote Speech by Lord Sebastian Coe KBE and Topical Industry Presentations Cemented Energy Solutions 2012 as the UK's Leading Energy Management Event
Earlier this month London's Olympia played host to experts, suppliers and leading figures from the energy and environmental industry as part of the annual Energy Solutions exhibition. Running across two days, the leading energy management event, Energy Solutions 2012, showcased the very latest products whilst providing more features and educational content than ever before.
Focusing on how organisations can combat energy costs and consumption, comply with regulation, reduce carbon output and enhance CSR policies, Energy Solutions is recognised as the UK's leading energy management event.
Peter Sharman, Supply Chain Manager for Mulalley, said: "The talks and presentations that I have attended this year at Energy Solutions have given me a lot of enthusiasm to return to work and start working on our energy reduction scheme. Having been to a number of conferences and exhibitions already this year, I have found this one to be really good."
A stand-out session for the event was a keynote speech delivered by Lord Sebastian Coe KBE to a packed theatre on the Wednesday. In his address Lord Coe discussed the sustainability targets for the London Games, stressing the importance of providing a sustainable legacy, highlighting that this was the first truly public transport games and that this had set the bar high for future global events of this scale.
The keynote from Lord Coe formed part of the comprehensive free-to-attend education programme that included two theatres and saw over 40 sessions across the two days from leading experts working across all sectors of the energy industry.
Speakers over the two days included David Hunt, the Vice-Chair - Onsite Renewables Sector Group for Renewable Energy Association (REA), who was quick to criticise the Green Deal initiative, Shaun McCarthy the Chair for the Commission for a Sustainable London 2012 and Dr. Alan Whitehead MP, the Chair of Associate Parliamentary Renewable and Sustainable Energy Group who expressed concern for UK's energy if 2020 targets are not met.
Mr Hunt told the Energy Solutions summit in London: "The Green Deal was never intended as a driver for renewable technologies; that is the role of feed-in-tariffs and the Renewable Heat Incentive. But energy efficiency is critical for homes, businesses and UK PLC to reduce its carbon footprint and energy use. The Green Deal should be the ideal opportunity to support and address this issue, but we are facing a very undercooked policy becoming live and a Government that is not listening."
The Exhibition included more than 90 exhibitors from the energy sector, with companies such as The Carbon Trust, Rexel Energy Solutions & Rexel Renewable Energy, Ivolt, Powerperfector, Dong Energy, Carel Ltd, Marshall-Tufflex and Reflex Winklemann represented, all displaying the latest products and services that are set revolutionise the energy sector.
"The Carbon Trust were delighted to host both a stand and a breakfast briefing at this year's Energy Solutions exhibition, it is vital that the industry can meet to share knowledge and experience to drive energy efficiency in every sector and on every level. Energy Solutions is a well-run and high-quality event that brings together a great mix from across the energy sector and beyond. Working closely with the UBM team ensured all planning and arrangements on the day were seamless, resulting in a very successful two days for the Carbon Trust," said, Myles McCarthy, Managing Director for The Carbon Trust Implementation Services.
John Woodhouse from DANLERS, who also exhibited at this year's Energy Solutions, added: "Energy Solutions is one of the most effective events at which DANLERS exhibits its range of energy-saving products. In the 25-plus events the DANLERS team have covered in the last 12 months, many (from our perspective) have seen a decline in footfall, effectiveness and return on investment. I was encouraged this was not the case at Energy Solutions 2012."
Energy Solutions formed part of the Working Buildings Series which included the FM event, the UK's longest running facilities event, Building Services - The CIBSE Conference & Exhibition and Global Security Summit London.
This year a host of high-level speakers participated in the series alongside Lord Coe, including Kit Malthouse, Deputy Mayor for London for Business and Enterprise, Government Chief Construction Advisor Paul Morrell OBE and Andrew Amery from LOCOG, along with high-level senior representatives working across the industries.
