TRA Opens Pre-Registration for the Black Hat Conference to be Held in December
ABU DHABI, UAE, July 31, 2011 /PRNewswire/ --
The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) is pleased to announce the opening of the pre-registration for the Black Hat Conference, the world's leading information security conference, to be held in Abu Dhabi from 12-15 December 2011. This conference is organized by the TRA through representation from the UAE Computer Emergency Response Team (aeCERT) in cooperation with Khalifa University of Science and Technology, and United Business Media (UBM).
Participants of the 2011 Black Hat Conference that register during the Early Bird Registration, starting now until mid-August 2011, will benefit from a 40% discount on registration fees which amounts to US$ 1,095.
Commenting on the event, H.E. Muhammad Nasser Al Ghanim, TRA Director General said: "The TRA's participation in organizing this event is in line with its core objectives and mission to improve the level of information security in order to achieve a safer cyber environment for users in the UAE. It also conforms to the policy of the (aeCERT) team to prevent cyber-attacks, and design proper responses to them. The participation of the TRA in organizing such events reflects the outstanding regional status enjoyed by the UAE in the information technology sector."
"The pre-registration stage offers participants willing to be part of this important and leading event in the field of information technology, a great opportunity to receive a discount on their registration fees. The discount aims at encouraging the largest number of organizations, institutions, and individuals to participate. The conference also offers significant benefits for participants due to the topics it will discuss in the field of protecting IT systems from attacks and penetrations that might cause significant damage to their systems, or result in the leakage of critical and important information," he added.
The Black Hat Abu Dhabi Conference will offer a full range of sessions, including ten training programs, followed by three briefing tracks running simultaneously alongside the exhibition. The two days of briefing will discuss and demonstrate the latest and most important security issues facing the market today. In addition, the TRA is organizing several live demonstrations of cyber-attacks during the conference aimed at displaying the gravity and severity of such attacks, and will then suggest ways to resolve the damage from the attacks, as well as suggesting overall prevention methods.
The UAE hosted the first edition of the Black Hat Conference in Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi during 8-11 November 2010. The event discussed areas of vulnerability in critical infrastructure and identity authentication systems, in addition to other highly important IT related issues.
Following the success of the inaugural Black Hat Conference last year, the UAE has succeeded in organizing the second edition through the tireless and continuous efforts made by the TRA, Khalifa University of Science and Technology, and UBM. This conference is a clear demonstration of the growing significance of information security, and of the growing role of the UAE in this continually evolving sector.
