UBM Invites CANSO to Consider Proposal to Unite ATM Industry
LONDON, June 14, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
***UBM, organisers of ATC Global, proposes talks with CANSO on the creation of single event for the global ATM industry in 2014***
UBM has put forward a proposal to CANSO to collaborate on serving the global ATM industry by creating a unified event that brings all stakeholders from around the world together on an annual basis. This single event would supersede the conflicting events, World ATM Congress and ATC Global, scheduled to take place just one week apart in March 2014.
Paula Milburn, Development Director - Aviation, UBM Live, commented; "Our aim is to achieve the best possible outcome for the industry that we have served for 23 years. With two competing ATM events in Europe this year, the industry was divided. It was clear that neither event matched the size nor standards set by previous editions of ATC Global, so in response to industry feedback UBM has proposed a win: win solution to be considered by CANSO executive and their members when they meet next week at their annual general meeting in the Caribbean island Curacao."
The proposal by UBM suggests that both organisations work together to produce a consolidated event and also offers a firm financial incentive that is likely to improve CANSO's income. Based upon UBM analysis of the 2013 events, CANSO could expect an agreement with UBM to generate in excess of twice the income achieved from the World ATM Congress 2013 with far lower risk. The collaboration would provide a reliable funding mechanism for CANSO and most importantly increased income to invest back into the industry.
"The proposal enables industry to lead the event agenda and benefit from UBM's event management expertise, market experience, global reach and extensive resources. Aviation is an increasingly important sector to UBM and we are committed to investing in this market and delivering events that are world leaders. To this end we have recently restructured to join together our aviation brands including Routes, Airport Cities and ATC Global, and are positioned for expansion that could further benefit a unified ATM event. We firmly believe that the creation of a single event which brings the entire industry together is in the best interests of everyone within it and that this will further support CANSO's objective of transforming global ATM performance." added Milburn.
