UBM Steps up its CSR Activity by Doing What it Does Best
LONDON, February 22, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- UBM is working to deliver a not-for-profit exhibition at the Business Design Centre in London on March 17th & 18th 2011. The Responsible Partnerships Exhibition represents a major step-change in their CSR activity - from philanthropy to replicating what they do best in business for the benefit of a wider community in geographies where they operate.
The London show has the aim of facilitating networking between charities, encouraging them to participate in best-practice seminars and facilitating partnerships between voluntary and corporate sectors. It features 150+ charities and voluntary organisations varying in size, structure and issues tackled from large organisations such as UNICEF and WWF to the more localised Richard House Children's Hospice.
"One of the core principles of UBM's policy is to improve awareness and disclosure of Corporate Responsibility activity both internally and externally. All our divisions are responsible for the development and implementation of CR initiatives in relation to the communities in which they operate - be they volunteering schemes; supporting relevant charities or fundraising initiatives - and we work hard to ensure that our business practices are as sustainable as possible," said David Levin, CEO. "For the first time in the UK, we have harnessed our business expertise and knowledge to launch the Responsible Partnerships Exhibition which both encourages businesses to engage with charities whilst giving NGOs a golden opportunity to reach out to the corporate world."
Visitors will also be able to attend a series of free seminars over the two days covering topics ranging from how to achieve the best results in a tough economic climate; using social media to increase awareness; how to build a strategic approach to funding. There will also be several case studies from companies that have established successful CSR strategies offering plenty of opportunities for participants to network and take away ideas for their own organisations.
"The London event is one of the first collaborations between all of our UK divisions - with teams contributing to the visitor marketing activity and members from several teams giving their time and expert input into the smooth running of the show," said event lead, John Welsh.
UBM is working some of the sector's leading organisations to deliver this event including NCVO, NAVCA, Oxfam and Business in the Community.
The exhibition is co-located with the BITC Responsible Business Convention, which is a joint venture partnership between UBM and Business in the Community (BITC). The high level strategic convention features business leaders from 60+ organisations setting the global sustainability agenda, including: Unilever, Deloitte, Hitachi, Marks & Spencer, Capgemini, Waitrose, Linklaters, Adnams, United Utilities, BT, Royal Mail, Lloyds Banking Group.
Note: The event is being run on a not-for-profit basis with furnished exhibition stands being offered to over 150 NGOs and free seminars being offered to help them develop partnerships with business. A similar event has also run in Brazil for the last two years and we plan to launch one in India next year.
