In a labour market where contingent workers form a critical part of the workforce for many large organisations, the world's largest building society addresses the need for better visibility and management of non-permanent workers through the implementation of an in-house Workforce Supply Management team.
LONDON, Sept. 26, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Beeline, a global leader in software solutions for managing the extended workforce, announced that it will provide vendor management system (VMS) technology to the Nationwide Building Society.
Nationwide has a non-permanent workforce totalling around 25% of its total staffing model. These workers range from traditional temporary workers and contractors, through to consultants and staff who provide a range of domiciliary support services from cleaning to catering to security.
"The complexity offered by today's labour market and sourcing solution models offer exciting opportunities for both organisations, as well as for the increasing number of individuals who have a more contemporary outlook on the shape of work," said Katrina Hutchinson-O'Neill, Director of Resourcing, Nationwide Building Society. "Companies who want to build agility, efficiencies, and strategic advantage can't afford to disregard the skills and expertise of flexible workers, nor to have a diluted focus on the controls and management of this population in comparison to those in place for more traditional labour models."
Nationwide's non-permanent workers require building and/or systems access, and are sourced via a number of supplier models across an array of commercial and non-commercial engagements, including Statement of Work (SOW), Managed Services, Outsourcing, and Consultancy.
Beeline will provide a complete VMS technology solution for non-employees, working in conjunction with the newly formed Workforce Supply Management team (WSMT) at Nationwide to provide a Total Workforce Management Solution for the business.
"The deep capabilities of the Beeline VMS mean that we can enrol all types of workers, sourced through a variety of channels, and confidently safeguard against a multitude of issues faced when managing the external workforce," said Claire Whiteford, Head of Workforce Supply Management Team, Nationwide Building Society. "As importantly, this technology provides us the ability to create transparency on reporting and also a means to quality control our contingent workforce in an effective and efficient way."
Together the WSMT and Beeline will capture and enrol the non-employee workforce into the VMS platform, allowing tight controls to be placed on facility access, talent resourcing and quality, in addition to vendor and resource management. Candidate pre-screening, on- and offboarding and headcount tracking are necessary to ensure full visibility, therefore compliance with corporate and CSR guidelines, as well as health and safety and employment law regulations. Insightful reporting and analytics will support the intelligent provision and optimal future hiring decisions of the non-permanent workforce.
"Nationwide Building Society was not only concerned about security but also the supply of talent through the appropriate channels," said Jon Holden, SVP Strategic Accounts, Beeline. "With Beeline, they will decrease fragmentation of the supply model, increase overall quality and speed to hire while ensuring robust vetting, spend management and workflow efficiencies through consistent report and application of controls."
"Following a rigorous process, we found that Beeline VMS ticked all our boxes from the standpoint of offering deep functionality combined with a user interface that we believe will help us in driving user adoption across our business," said Maria Rancel-Lopez, Head of Procurement - HR & Resourcing, Nationwide Building Society. "The reporting functionality gives us a centralised view of our current workforce to help reduce costs, streamline the supply chain and comply to regulations."
"Nationwide was looking for a trusted partner who could offer extensive market expertise to the newly formed WSMT as well as a solution that is able to grow with the team," said Tim Asti, Sales Manager, Beeline. "The cultural fit between the teams means we are closely aligned in vision allowing a clear focus on the end goal."
