KIEV, Ukraine, January 13, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- "Former Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko lost hope to find support in Ukraine," says Vladyslav Zabarskyi, the People's Deputy from the Party of Regions, the head of the Subcommittee on civil law of the Parliamentary Committee on Judicial Policy.
Vladyslav Zabarsky released such a comment in response to the claim of Hanne Severinsen, the former co-rapporteur of the Monitoring Committee on the adherence of Ukraine to the requirements of Parliamentary Assembly of Council of Europe (PACE), that the Ukrainian government allegedly intimidates its political rivals.
"I urge the Ukrainian authorities to keep their promises and to return to the legal and democratic field, stop intimidation of political rivals", says Hanne Severinsen in her letter sent to Ukrainskaya Pravda.
The People's Deputy Vladislav Zabarskyi suggests that such a claim was made because of the current deflation of Tymoshenko's political rating. "Nobody supported her (Tymoshenko. - Editor) except the European People's Party President Wilfried Martens and the former PACE Deputy Hanne Severinsen."BYuT" (Tymoshenko's party. - Editor) is trying to use the former co-rapporteur of the Parliamentary Assembly of Council of Europe (PACE) as a transmitter of the messages, written at the Headquarters on Turovskaya street (Tymoshenko's party headquarters. - Editor)," noted the MP.
In Vladyslav Zabarskyi's opinion, Ms. Severinsen should adhere to the same rigorous principles with Tymoshenko as she did while evaluating the fulfillment of Ukraine's obligations to PACE.
In December 2010, the RIA Novosti news agency reported that Yulia Tymoshenko had been under investigation by the Ukrainian Prosecutor General's Office on allegations against her for misusing government funds. "The power accuses me of spending the Kyoto Protocol's ecological money on pension payments in the heat of the world financial crisis," the former Prime-Minister said.
According to the Ukrainian News Agency, the Trout Cacher, it is PLLC law firm (Washington, D.C., United States), that audited the Tymoshenko-led government activities for a period from 2008 and to the first quarter of 2010, had uncovered misapplication by the Cabinet of Ministers of EUR 200 million obtained through the sale of carbon credits under the Kyoto Protocol in 2009 despite the requirement to use such proceeds for implementation of environment protection projects only.
