University Canada West Announces 2016 Scholarship Program Valued at More Than $800,000
VANCOUVER, British Columbia, December 2, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --
University Canada West (UCW), in conjunction with Global University Systems (GUS), announced a 2016 scholarship program valued at more than $800,000.
The centerpiece of the program is a new Founder's Scholarship, established in celebration of the University's 10th anniversary. This program provides up to 20 full-time undergraduate scholarships, each worth approximately $25,500 for recent high school graduates who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents. Interested students can begin applying December 1 for studies in 2016.
The Founder's Scholarship complements a robust scholarship offering that reflects the University's diverse programing and student body. Domestic and International students are eligible to apply for UCW's Scholarships for Academic Excellence as well as the MBA Foundation Study Grants. Additionally, the International Student Leaders Award provides scholarship opportunities for engaged international applicants and the Emily Baker Scholarship MBA offers scholarship funds for eligible First Nations applicants.
"For many smart and capable students one of the biggest challenges in pursuing a post-secondary degree is figuring out how to fund it," explained UCW President and Vice-Chancellor Dr. Arthur Coren. "These scholarships are designed to help solve that problem and to provide students with an outstanding university education."
UCW's recent acquisition by GUS makes possible the expansion of academic offerings and outreach to students both locally and globally. Under its new ownership the University now has greater ability to expand and advance its enrollment and academic pathways.
