-- Online public administration programme incorporates research themes from the newly formed Heseltine Institute
LIVERPOOL, England, March 25, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The University of Liverpool's Management School (ULMS), which is accredited by AACSB, has launched a fully online Master of Public Administration (MPA) programme. Aimed at professionals in the public and non-profit sectors, the MPA was designed with input from Dr Mike Rowe, Co-Director of the University's Heseltine Institute for Public Policy & Practice. The newly formed Institute brings together experts from across the University of Liverpool to explore and research complex social problems.

The online MPA places a unique emphasis on the crucial role that frontline public servants have in shaping policy outcomes. The programme provides professionals from around the world with the skills and confidence required of strong leaders within the field. Students will emerge better able to recognise and address public sector challenges and to shape policies that lead to successful outcomes.
"The University of Liverpool online MPA is well positioned to enhance the skill set of public sector professionals, encouraging them to connect with fellow colleagues and gain management and leadership skills that are highly sought after in both local and international public and non-profit sectors," Dr Rowe said. "One of the key strengths of the programme is its emphasis on both rigorous academic thinking and the acquisition of practical management tools and techniques. This dual focus stems from the University's long-standing expertise in teaching and research in public administration."
The programme encourages students to compare and challenge accepted models of public policymaking, explore global topics locally and investigate the key role of frontline public servants. Through their online coursework, students analyse global public administration topics such as crime, clean water and population change and make them relevant to their local context through assignments and discussions.
"The programme is distinctively international and capitalises on the strength of the global classroom that is provided through the University of Liverpool's online learning model," said Dr Dominique Lelievre-Finch, Director of Studies at ULMS for the online MPA. "Students will study with fellow professionals from around the world, having the opportunity to engage with practising public servants drawing from a rich contrast in cultural perspectives and professional practices."
Through its dynamic learning environment, the University of Liverpool's online learning model enables students to earn an advanced academic degree, without interrupting their career, from wherever they are based in the world.
