Urgent Appeal for Betfred Punter to Come Forward to Claim at Least 400 Grand
NEWCASTLE, England, June 28, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
A Betfred shop customer who is sitting on a £400,000 windfall is being urged to come forward after landing last weekend's totescoop6.
The punter, who placed their £2 bet in a Betfred shop in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, picked the six winners of the nominated Scoop6 races last Saturday and now has the chance to go for a further £251,996 in this weekend's bonus race.
However, the customer still hasn't returned to the shop to collect the £394,487 they won on the bet which has prompted fears that the winner may not collect their winnings in time to register for the bonus race and hence miss out on the chance of taking their haul to over £650,000.
If the winning customer doesn't come forward by 2pm this Saturday, they will miss their chance to go for the bonus fund which currently stands at £251,996. The bonus race will be the 3.20 Newcastle - the John Smith's Northumberland Plate at Newcastle.
"Usually punters are banging my doors down to collect their winnings and I'm really worried that our Scoop6 winner may not actually know they've won," said Betfred boss Fred Done.
"I urge anyone who played the Scoop6 in the Newcastle area last weekend to check their tickets just in case they're sitting on a massive windfall - especially as they only spent £2 on the bet!"
Under the rules of the bet, any selections made that are non-runners are automatically placed onto the eventual favourite and given the fact there were eighteen horses withdrawn across the six Scoop6 races last Saturday, there is a strong possibility that the winner may not have realised they have actually won.
The winner needs to go to any Betfred shop before 2pm Saturday or phone 0800-028-4418. Betfred will also take the winner and their family to Newcastle Races on Saturday as VIPs when they will hopefully take their winnings to nearly £650,000.
