WITSA Selects India to Host the Flagship World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT) in 2018

The National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) today announced that World Information Technology and Services Alliance (WITSA) has selected India to host the World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT) in the year 2018. NASSCOM has also sought Government of India's support in bringing this technology mega-confluence to India. Further, WITSA also announced that it has selected Mr. R Chandrashekhar, President, NASSCOM, as the Chairman of its Global Policy Actions Committee.
Sharing his views on the development, Mr. R Chandrashekhar, President, NASSCOM, said, "It is a moment of great pride for India to host such a global IT confluence like WCIT - a unique platform that brings together global perspective on ICT issues and opportunities. At the WCIT 2018, we aim to focus on digital empowerment to define new paradigms for emerging verticals and build a conducive ecosystem for growth." ICT is fast becoming ubiquitous in our daily lives and has the potential of innovations beyond incremental improvements in the efficiency of existing products and services. WCIT will present a great opportunity for India and Indian the technology landscape and will help in realizing the Government's vision of creating a Digital India. The discussions and deliberations during the conclave will help shape and craft the next phase of transformational journey the Indian IT and build consensus with technology and technology-enabled companies across the globe.
The WCIT is intended to serve as the proper platform for the industry, policy makers and academy to show their peers, how ICT innovations are helping them to create new alternatives for a challenging world. The WCIT is the most prestigious and most important gathering of the ICT industry and government executives and officials, global institutions and civil society in 2014. The WCIT 2014 will host more than 2,000 delegates from approximately 80 countries.
WITSA is a consortium of over 80 ICT industry associations from economies around the world, representing more than 90 per cent of the international ICT market. WITSA is the global voice of the ICT industry and over the years NASSCOM has represented India at the WITSA. The WCIT 2018 will be an international high level congress that would bring together more than 50 exhibitors and up to 2,500 delegates from around 80 countries - such as Corporate leaders, Policymakers, Government officials and Academia Members to discuss emerging issues on ICTs, and address how legal, political, and economic trends affect business models.
