Women’s Contribution to the Development of Science and Green Innovations Dicussed at Expo 2017

Delegates from 25 countries gathered at the International Forum "Women for the Future Energy" in the capital of Kazakhstan.
The main objective of the event was to discuss issues such as the contribution of women to promoting innovative ideas in the sphere of alternative energy and the green economy, ensuring sustainable and inclusive growth in the context of transitioning to clean energy, and effective partnership of the state, the business sector, and civil society.
In her opening speech addressed to the participants of the forum, Gulshara Abdykalikova, the State Secretary of the Republic of Kazakhstan, stressed the need to boost the participation of women in establishing global sustainable development. According to her, women all over the world should influence the dissemination and improvement of environmental technologies.
The Foreign Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kairat Abdrakhmanov, also spoke at the forum. He noted that due to the efforts of women, Kazakhstan would be able to achieve the sustainable development goals set by the UN. Women's participation should be ensured at all levels, including by increasing the number of female scientists in the energy sector.
Over 300 delegates from 25 countries took part in the forum. Among them were: Galina Karelova, Deputy Chairperson of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia; Natalya Kochanova, Head of the Belarus President Administration; Cholpon Sultanbekova, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic; Betsy Nelson, Vice President Risk and Compliance and Chief Risk Officer at EBRD; Irene Natividad, President of the Global Summit of Women; and women who are world leaders in the sphere of the green economy and alternative energy or representatives of state structures.
The forum resulted in the adoption of a Resolution encouraging the world community to follow the principles of achieving a reduced environmental impact, as well as containing climate change and the deterioration of natural resources.
EXPO 2017 in Astana
The International Specialized Exhibition EXPO 2017 dedicated to "Future Energy"- is an exhibition and entertainment event that is held from June 10 to September 10, 2017 in the capital of Kazakhstan - Astana. The exhibition is one of the most spectacular cultural venues of this year.
As part of the exhibition, global policy documents will be drafted in order to promote an energy-efficient lifestyle and wide use of renewable energy sources.
