World-Leading WindEnergy Trade Fair Confirms Hamburg's Position as the European Capital of Wind Energy

From 23 to 26 September 2014, WindEnergy Hamburg will open its doors for the first time. The organiser, HamburgMesse und Congress, is expecting 40,000 trade visitors to attend this world-leading trade fair. More than 1,000 exhibitors from over 30 countries will be presenting solutions and innovations from the entire onshore and offshore value chain.  

WindEnergy Hamburg 2014 will be the showcase for all globally active companies, from world-famous key players to small and medium-sized enterprises from all parts of the value chain. More than 15 national pavilions - ranging from Denmark to the USA and China - will reflect the current as well as the emerging national markets in the wind energy sector. For about 40 percent of the exhibitors currently registered, the focus of the trade fair is on the offshore sector.

International figures in the industry are also particularly interested in the Energiewende (energy turnaround) in Germany as the leading technological centre, and the key role played by wind energy in the move towards renewable energy, which will be a major theme in the first year of WindEnergy Hamburg. After all, as stated by Leopold Greipl, Managing Director of VDMA, Wind Energy Working Group: "Many countries are looking towards Germany and watching how this highly developed industry is handling the Energiewende and exit from nuclear power."

The central theme of innovation is underlined by Bernd Aufderheide, President and CEO of Hamburg Messe und Congress: "The industry will give an impressive presentation at WindEnergy Hamburg of what it is doing to provide innovative solutions and a sustainable energy supply".

Industry insiders consider Hamburg to be Europe's wind energy capital and it provides the perfect setting for a trade fair bringing together international specialists and serving as a meeting point for the energy industry. For many global players in the industry, WindEnergy Hamburg will be a home game because leading companies such as DONG Energy, Nordex, Senvion and Siemens have headquarters in the North German Hanseatic City of Hamburg. In the metropolitan region of Hamburg, around 25,000 people work in about 1,500 companies in the renewable energy industry, mainly in the wind energy sector.
