World-Renowned Portrait Photographer Rankin Teams With Healthy Skin Groups And Dermatology Company LEO Pharma To Launch NYSKIN, A First-Of-Its-Kind Photographic Pop-up Event In New York's Meatpacking District That Celebrates The Beauty Of All Skin
Part visual commemoration, part photographic census, NYSKIN will unify skin in a way never seen before – in a physical gallery and online
BALLERUP, Denmark, Oct. 27, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- LEO Pharma, a global healthcare company dedicated to helping people achieve healthy skin, today announced the launch of NYSKIN – a unique photographic event that will map New York City through the faces of its inhabitants and visitors. Coinciding with World Psoriasis Day on October 29 and Healthy Skin Awareness Month in November, LEO Pharma is teaming with one of the world's top studio photographers – London-based Rankin – to take portraits of New Yorkers in celebration of healthy skin in a pop-up event installation in the Meatpacking District. Part visual commemoration, part photographic census, NYSKIN will unify and present the city's skin in a way never seen before.
Housed in an installation in NYC's Meatpacking District, the event will also host healthy skin advocacy groups for educational events from October 28 – November 10, while offering New Yorkers and the city's visitors a chance to participate in the celebration of skin. As great portraits don't require model looks, NYSKIN will celebrate reality: the freckled, the dimpled and the lived in. Anyone can come by to learn more about skin, the body's largest organ, sign up to have their portrait taken and added to the "census" by Rankin.
"LEO Pharma is proud to partner with the iconic photographer Rankin and our patient group partners to highlight and celebrate the body's largest organ, the skin," said Kim D. Kjoeller, Executive Vice President, R&D, LEO Pharma A/S. "We would like to invite anyone living in or visiting New York City to stop by the NYSKIN installation and learning area on West 14th Street, New York and let those outside of the city participate virtually by visiting LEO-SKIN.com."
"Celebrating the idea of 'real beauty' has always been at the heart of what I do. So being able to explore this powerful concept further with skin health leaders LEO Pharma is a natural extension of my passion," said Rankin.
"Sometimes our skin waves a white flag and struggles to cope, resulting in skin conditions that are rarely talked about or even seen," said Christine Janus, CEO, International Alliance of Dermatology Patient Organizations. "We commend LEO Pharma and Rankin for celebrating skin of all types through NYSKIN and for creating this unique educational space."
