The Children's Home project is part of XCMG's international "BlueDream" education program under the scope of the company's "For Better Life" global public welfare campaign which consists of 14 precisely positioned projects.
The global leading construction and mining equipment manufacturer is selecting 7 to 10 impoverished villages in Sichuan to kick start the Children's Home project. Overall the first phase of the project will be benefiting 2,000 to 3,000 "left-behind" children in 40 to 50 villages.
The children's center in each village is equipped with computers, library and sports facilities. For teenagers, XCMG will provide professional trainings in agriculture, construction engineering and machinery operation. In the future, XCMG will also be providing internships as well as job opportunities in nearby locations.
By partnering with China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation, China Philanthropy Research Institute and the government of Sichuan Province, XCMG will establish a comprehensive social care model for "left-behind" children in three years with six million yuan (USD 912,000) that can be introduced to other provinces like Guizhou, Yunnan, Shanxi and Gansu in the future.
Meanwhile, XCMG is also carrying out global public welfare projects like the 2016 water cellar project, which is building 50 cellars in eastern Ethiopia in collaboration with Gansu Research Institute for Water Conservancy to solve the daily and agricultural water usage issues for 50 families. By taking advantage of the abundant rainfall in Africa's wet season, the economical and practical water cellar will be a solution to the drought problems.
"XCMG keeps an active interest in public charities and welfare projects to fulfill our promise and contribute to the social progress, we are committed to bring a better life to those in need and shoulder the responsibilities," said Liu Yifan, secretary of XCMG's youth league committee.
