Beatthebookie.tv, the bookie-comparison operation, has surveyed 2000 men between the ages of 18 and 30 and spotted an alarming trend towards bill-paying by betting.
Of the 2000 surveyed 67% confessed to betting on-line either individually or with friends to fund their living costs and the bookie-comparison site claims the trend is linked to the proliferation of gambling sites and opportunities to bet.
The news follows a recent report by the debt charity Money Advice Trust which claims the UK is facing a "rent debt crisis" as it deals with double the number of calls on the matter than it was getting two years ago.
Joanna Elson, Chief Executive of the Money Advice Trust said: "The long-term trend for rising rent prices is clear and its impact on the debt landscape is significant. Rent arrears are now the fastest growing debt problem we help people with at our National Debtline, and we are in danger of falling into a rent debt crisis.
As credit becomes harder to access, people who used to build up large debt are now falling more quickly into rent arrears. There were people who would have been paying these kinds of debts on credit cards."
Matthew Stubbs from beatthebookie said: This trend of betting to pay debts is very troubling. Betting is supposed to be a bit of fun which can give an enjoyable edge to matches for football fans, for example. It is certainly not a way to make a living as clearly all bets don't win."

Editor's Notes:
Beatthebookie.tv is the first comparison site to be run by people from within the gambling world, who understand it and have access to the major players within it. What makes these people tick? How do their offers really work and where can you get the best prices?
It is independent and claims to give impartial views on bookmaking and football and does that with a smile on its face.
