Media Coffee: Insights from a Marketing & Comms Professional in the U.S

In this episode of Media Coffee, we speak to Melissa Ambers, founder of SAVVY Media Group. In addition to SAVVY Media Group, she also owns one of the first minority woman-owned full-service marketing firms globally. She will give us insights on how PR and Comms professionals can effectively pitch their stories, highlight the importance of press releases in a company or brand's marketing strategy, and discuss her upcoming book.

3 of Melissa’s tips for pitching journalists:

  • Ensure the journalists you’re emailing cover topics relevant to your business and understand their schedule and content.
  • Tailor your pitch to demonstrate why your story fits their focus, rather than just presenting your business.
  • Follow the "seven touches" rule for journalist follow-ups. Use a tool to schedule follow-ups: start after seven days, then every five to six days, and later every three days.
