jQuery Europe: Top International Developers Meet in Vienna
VIENNA, February 25, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
Smart, Responsive, Mobile and Security - numerous guests at the experts conference for IT trends - Gentics CEO Meran: "Vienna the hot spot for IT innovation"
The Viennese Palais Liechtenstein became the meeting point for the worldwide IT community. Between February 22 and 23, it was the magnet for more than 300 web technologists and developers that work with JavaScript and jQuery. Top experts and web pioneers from all over the world traveled to Vienna's first jQuery conference to discuss new trends in web development, Apps, and Smart TV. And over that weekend the over 300-year-old former palace was transformed into an IT hot spot. The preeminent theme in those two days was the topic of "securing the web for users."
IT experts at first hand
As Mike West, security expert at Google, explained in his presentation, "the race against hackers cannot be won - they are numerous and are probably just as interested in stealing your data as you are in protecting it. It takes only a single mistake to make a website vulnerable to attack. Given that more and more application logic is moving to the browser, it's more important than ever to protect that layer of the application. Content Security Policy is an important step towards that goal and it is already supported in Chrome and Firefox."
Developer Patrick Lauke, one of the top speakers at the conference, focused on the topic of "Smart TV" and the development of Smart TV-Apps and web content for TV browsers: "When programming TV Apps, you should consider that the hardware you are dealing with is still at an early development stage (slow processors, limited storage) and needs rather conservative coding. Although TVs get updated constantly, it's unclear if we are going to see the predicted rise of TV-Apps in the near future."
Christian Heilmann, Mozilla Developer and JavaScript author, dedicated his presentation to the challenge of out-of-the-box innovation: "We are in a time of change. The web as we knew it is not only changing in terms of technologies and demands, but user preferences are changing too. More and more people are experiencing the web first and foremost on mobile devices and tablets, which brings new challenges to us as developers."
Event host and moderator Haymo Meran, Chief Technical Officer of Gentics Software, was satisfied by the sold-out conference: "The overwhelming run to our web development conference shows the need for such an event in Austria. Web developers and their communities appreciate possibilities to exchange and talk about innovation at common platforms. My vision is to see Vienna as the new hot spot for IT innovation in central Europe. The first jQuery conference in Vienna is a good starting point and a contribution to this."
Technical exchange on all levels
Numerous web developers, IT enthusiasts, and heads of development departments of major Austrian companies joined the conference to follow the talks and hang out at Microsoft's main sponsor lounge. Netural, karriere.at and Full Stack also invited the 300 guests to know-how exchange. Besides personal chats during the coffee break and lunch, communication also took place on social media platforms like Twitter (Twitter (https://twitter.com/jqueryeurope), and highlights coming out of the conference were constantly posted and commented on by the attendees.
