Sikur to Unveil High-security Smartphone Focussing on Personal and Corporate Privacy at Mobile World Congress 2015 Barcelona
BARCELONA, March 3, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --
- The Brazilian company is launching a GranitePhone package and operating system designed to prevent information leaks.
- The first units of the device will hit the market in the third quarter of 2015.
Sikur will present a new smartphone at this year's MWC. The device was designed specifically for exchanging sensitive and confidential information, without affecting its speed and efficiency.
The GranitePhone, to be released in Barcelona, is the product of years of research relating to national defence, governmental and multinational communication. It will ensure privacy on calls, messaging, documents and instant messages.
The device contains all the features of a cutting edge smartphone without risking any information leaks or any loss of business data.
Security is an issue that troubles executives and governments worldwide. Research carried out by the Ponemon Institute, and sponsored by Symantec in 2014, shows that 60% of companies surveyed have dealt with more than one data leak in the last two years.
"In the beginning we expect to cater for governments and business markets. In the future, when more people become aware of the value of the information they share, like consumption habits and localization, this will change and a new consumer market will open to us," predicts Cristiano Iop Kruger, CEO of Sikur.
The GranitePhone offers high levels of encryption, corporate control and device management. For example, in case of theft or loss, you can remotely log onto the Sikur cloud and destroy all information on the handset. An application store in the future will offer security applications only tested and approved by Sikur.
The GranitePhone, apart from other security solutions, is not limited to only offering applications with encryption features. The application pack is part of the built-in hardware, as the device was designed with intrinsic safety from all layers of the device, eliminating privacy gaps that may allow theft, exposure and espionage of data.
Given the great demand from companies and governments for security and privacy projects in Latin America, the Middle East and the USA, the first batch of devices should be available in the third quarter of 2015.
Considered a global company, Sikur has offices and local staff in the US, Middle East, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia and Chile. Expansion plans into new markets include opening units in London and Singapore in the second half of 2015.
