Having already achieved success with its ETA approved S-KA throughbolts, PFG expansion anchors, S-UF façade anchors and LYT nail plugs, the Sormat Group has now taken the next step in its anchoring specialist strategy through the takeover of the LIEBIG brand and assets.
For Ismo Laitakari, managing director of the Sormat Group, the LIEBIG brand is a perfect complement to Sormat's current offering: "The strong LIEBIG brand not only gives us the opportunity to use and expand our knowledge as an ETA Option 1 throughbolt manufacturing company but also offers a great deal of potential for us in the global heavy duty anchor markets."
Through the takeover by the Sormat Group, development and manufacturing of the LIEBIG mechanical heavy duty anchor range will be consolidated to Sormat's state of the art manufacturing facilities in Finland. To the existing LIEBIG customers, and all new customers of the heavy duty anchors, Sormat will open a new service center in Trier, Germany, starting from February 2013.
"From a Simpson Strong-Tie point of the view, choosing Sormat was the best way to ensure our customers that long term availability of this product line and state of the art service will continue to be provided with no disruption. In that sense, the deal with Sormat totally matches Simpson Strong-Tie core values and secures the business for the future," says Laurent Versluysen, the European Managing Director of Simpson Strong-Tie.
"I am proud to integrate LIEBIG's pioneering undercut anchor technologies to Sormat's manufacturing excellence, and to reinforce Sormat's position as the most advanced anchoring technology provider in the Northern Europe. I am also proud on behalf of the Sormat people who want to bring new positive stimulus to the economic atmosphere of the South-West Finland," commented Laitakari on the effects of the deal, "Our inspiration is to serve all LIEBIG customers through Sormat's new Central European service center with Sormat Super Service attitude."
