ZTE and Mojio Make Nearly Any Car Part of the Internet of Things
If your car could talk, what would it say? Thanks to a collaboration between ZTE and Mojio, unlocking your car's hidden data is now possible with T-Mobile's SyncUP DRIVE™
SHENZHEN, China, Nov. 7, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the Mobile Internet, today announced alongside Mojio, the leading open platform for connected cars, their successful first step as partners for the launch of T-Mobile's SyncUP DRIVE™.
Available beginning November 18 from T-Mobile, the T-Mobile SyncUP DRIVE solution combines ZTE's innovative Internet of Things (IoT) device developed by ZTEWelink, a subsidiary of ZTE focused on M2M/IoT, with Mojio's cloud-based platform and mobile app, Motion – all powered by T-Mobile and the nation's fastest 4G LTE network. T-Mobile SyncUP DRIVE is an affordable, easy-to-install connected car solution that propels nearly any car into the Internet of Things, enabling a whole new suite of connected car experiences that provide something we've all been searching for - peace of mind about our cars and the people in them.
"Over the next five years the global economy will continue to transform and be connected together more than ever," said Lixin Cheng, SVP of ZTE Corporation. "Our M-ICT 2.0 strategy is helping us lead this transformation and we're excited to showcase this through teaming up with Mojio and T-Mobile in bringing the T-Mobile SyncUP DRIVE solution to consumers in the U.S."
Working with most vehicles 1996 and newer, the T-Mobile SyncUP DRIVE solution plugs in to your car's OBD-II port to not only unlock 4G LTE Wi-Fi access for passengers, but enable enhanced features such as virtual fences to know when your loved ones are arriving and departing common locations, real-time vehicle notifications to help keep your family safe and vehicle disturbance alerts to help keep your car secure, even when you're not with it.
T-Mobile SyncUP DRIVE users are the first to access Mojio's new connected car app, Motion, which provides enhanced connectivity and capabilities car owners have been wanting.
"The Motion app combines years of research with an intuitive user interface to enable a new kind of automotive peace of mind," said Kenny Hawk, CEO of Mojio. "The goal of this IoT collaboration is to improve the relationship we have with our cars by adding enhanced safety, security and connectivity capabilities to the cars we already drive."
Identify problems to help avoid stressful breakdowns
- Short and long term car maintenance leads to healthier cars. Car diagnostics and alerts to possible issues and malfunctions are communicated in real-time. Long-term service, warranty, and maintenance information based on the make, model, and year of the car are one tap away.
Assess driving habits to become a smarter, safer driver
- Unlocking car data offers a profound look at driving habits on a large or small scale. Data reveals where and when speeding, harsh breaking, and rapid acceleration happen – and the impact of those driving behaviors on fuel consumption.
Connect your car with other IoT devices, apps and services
- T-Mobile SyncUP DRIVE users get the advantage of Mojio's open platform and growing connected car ecosystem. Mojio's platform integrates with several IoT solutions, including IFTTT and Amazon Alexa, where the real-world usefulness of connecting data from your vehicle to other digital apps and services is improving every day.
